Course Description

This 6 session course is suitable for all levels, whether you have some experience of working in watercolour, or are a complete beginner. All materials are provided. Each session, you'll learn to use different watercolour techniques to create a landscape or seascape to take home with you. You’ll explore techniques such as: wet on wet, basic washes, different mark making, lifting off, wax resist, spatter, cling film, masking fluid. If you want to have fun, play and explore the potential of watercolour, then this course is for you. All materials will be provided so you can try out different colours and brushes to see which you would like to use yourself. But you are advised to have your own materials, mainly so you can do some practice between sessions. Equipment list and further course details will be provided nearer the start date. Sessions run from 10:00 to 13:00 and take place at my studio, Unit 3, Welburn Business Park, Welburn, North Yorkshire YO60 7EP. Dates are: 9 January, 23 January, 6 February, 27 February, 13 March, 27 March. Worried you won't be able to make every session? No need to be - if you have to miss a session due to illness, for example, you will be offered a make-up class on an alternative workshop. Booking and pre-payment is essential. Only 10 spaces available. Minimum number of participants needed for the course to run is 6. Ione is a landscape artist and tutor with over 30 years' teaching experience. Her aim in her teaching is firstly, that you feel supported to develop confidence and skill in using the wonderful medium of watercolour and secondly, that you to enjoy a restorative, creative time playing with paint.
