At Last, The Sun
At Last, the Sun
After days of cloud and rain, there comes a moment when the light quietly returns.
At Last, the Sun explores that fleeting transition as the landscape begins to emerge beneath a clearing sky. Soft washes of blue-grey, turquoise and violet sweep across the paper, while gentle light lifts the distant hills from shadow.
The painting is less about a particular place than the emotional experience of weather — the relief, optimism and sense of possibility that arrives with the first glimpse of sunshine. Broad, expressive washes and generous areas of untouched paper create a feeling of openness, allowing the viewer to bring their own memories of landscape and light.
Painted using professional artist-quality watercolours on Saunders Waterford Hot Pressed watercolour paper.
