Discover the Joy of Watercolour – A Relaxing Day Course for Beginners Unwind and immerse yourself in the gentle art of watercolour painting. This course is designed for complete beginners or anyone wanting to reconnect with their creativity. No experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to play with colour! You’ll enjoy a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere while learning the essential techniques of watercolour. We’ll explore both traditional and a couple of more experimental methods to help you build confidence and discover your own expressive style. All materials and refreshments are provided — simply bring your lunch and enthusiasm. You’ll take home two of your own beautiful watercolour paintings, along with a wealth of new skills and ideas to continue your painting journey. What You’ll Learn Learn the core techniques and principles of this versatile medium: Wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry painting Controlling water and paint flow Spattering and texture effects Applying and lifting paint with a plastic card Creating washes, blending colours, and expressive mark making Course Details Venue: The Studio, Unit 5, Welburn Business Park, Welburn YO60 7EP - just off the A64 Times: 10am – approximately 3pm Access: The studio is on the ground floor, with plenty of parking on site. What to Bring: A packed lunch, an apron, and an A3 folder to protect your finished paintings. You’re welcome to bring any favourite brushes or materials if you wish. About Your Tutor After thirty years teaching in secondary schools around the world, I followed my true passion for painting and began teaching art full-time in 2024. My aim is to help you build confidence and enjoyment in watercolour while having a restorative, creative experience. Expect a weekend of colour, calm, and joyful discovery.
