Course Description

Discover Ink and Watercolour: Create an Expressive Wild Meadow Painting Full Day Workshop (10am–3pm) Discover the exciting possibilities of combining watercolour and acrylic ink to create atmospheric, expressive and beautifully textured paintings. This friendly and supportive workshop is perfect for beginners as well as those with a little painting experience who would like to explore a new way of working. Throughout the day, you'll experiment with a variety of techniques and effects, learning how watercolour and ink interact to produce vibrant colour, dramatic textures and unexpected results. We'll explore techniques such as wet-into-wet painting, expressive mark-making, layering colour, creating texture and allowing water, pigment and gravity to play their part in the creative process. There will be plenty of demonstrations, guided exercises and individual support throughout the day. Rather than focusing on perfection, the emphasis is very much on play, experimentation and enjoying the process of discovery. By the end of the workshop, you'll have developed a range of techniques and created your own atmospheric paintings to take home. An apron and/or old clothes are recommended, along with something to take your paintings home in. Please also bring a packed lunch. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the day. Your tutor Ione Harrison is a landscape artist and tutor with over 30 years' teaching experience. Her aim is to help people develop confidence and enjoyment in painting while providing a supportive, mindful and inspiring environment in which to learn.
